The new Potton show barn is being built using a fabric first philosophy. In other words, the fabric of the building i.e. the walls, floor and roof, will be insulated to a higher level than normal thereby reducing the energy required to heat the building.
To achieve this we are using the Kingspan Logic plus system. Kingspan Logic plus is a premium performance evolution of Potton’s tried and tested timber frame system.
The system has at its core industry leading insulation in the form of Kingspan Rigid Board Insulation. With the lowest thermal conductivity of all commonly available insulants, less insulation is required to deliver the energy efficiency levels demanded by the higher levels of the Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes.
It is not practical to consider just the thermal performance of the insulation. You also need to be aware of the implications of thermal bridging and unwanted air-leakage. When the three issues are in balance, an energy efficient home can be delivered economically and with confidence.
Kingspan Logic plus has been developed in-house by our technical team who have an unrivalled level of expertise and experience.
Kingspan Logic plus has an inbuilt zone for services such as pipework and electric cabling. This allows future service upgrades, such as extra sockets or networking, to be added to the house without compromising the insulation layer and therefore maintaining the high standard of thermal performance.
Kingspan Logic plus
Kingspan Logic plus achieves a level of thermal performance that means most dwellings will be able to achieve Code 3 ENE 1 using a fabric first approach where renewable energy can be used as a bonus rather than a necessity.
At Code Level 4 Kingspan Logic plus will help manage the extent of renewable energy required to a cost effective level. Kingspan Logic plus provides the customer with a high performance, maintenance free external wall solution.
All the timber used in Kingspan Logic plus has full Chain of Custody certification and Kingspan Kooltherm® has an A-rating in the Green Guide.
In addition, Potton operates an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and you can rest assured that your home offers you reduced environmental impact both in use and as built.
