The show barn is now a blank canvas ready for a range of contemporary furniture and accessories to come in from Dwell.
High white gloss kitchen units, supplied by Clover, have all been fitted along with a range of innovative kitchen appliances including a combi-steam oven, coffee machine and various low energy appliances from Swiss manufacturers, V-Zug.
Despite the weather, the landscaping has been completed by local landscaping specialist, Chris Ashworth using materials from Marshalls supplied by Gibbs and Dandy. Last month, to ensure the house meets the requirements laid down in Lifetime Homes, Chris was busy raising the ground level outside the kitchen and lounge. He has also completed the paved patio area, built and planted borders and created a great extension to both the lounge and kitchen area, perfect for BBQ’s and entertaining throughout the summer.
The lounge was designed to be a room for for all seasons, with a contemporary gas fireplace from Anglia Fireplaces to make it a cosy space during the winter months and, thanks to Sunfold’s sliding bi-fold doors, the room can be opened up to the patio area during the summer months.
There are bathrooms both upstairs and down which is one of the requirements of Lifetime Homes. Last month, Urban Dimensions had just started tiling using tiles supplied by CTD. This work has now been completed and the baths and the sanitary wear from Tywfords installed. The only thing remaining is the speakers which are being supplied and fitted by Thinking Bricks , who have created an exciting intuitive home entertainment and lighting system that will bring music and mood lighting to every room throughout the house.
Last month, the painting was underway and that has now been completed using a combination of neutral and contrasting colours from paint specialists, Brewers. The contemporary oak staircase and glass balustrading for the gantry, supplied by David Smiths of St Ives, has been fitted by Timber Construction ready for the carpets to be laid.
The show barn will open for the first time on May 8th. For 5 days, from the 8th - 12th, there will be a variety of our partner suppliers and Potton specialists available to answer questions on how to design and build an energy efficient home. In addition, there will be an opportunity to see some of the SMART home technologies in action, and a cookery demonstration from Swiss appliance market leader V-ZUG.
