Painting and Decorating

We’re now in the final phase of the build. The brick work on the outside of the barn has been finished off with an angled brick or brick plinth laid on the top course, with a lead tray tucked underneath the external boarding and lapped over the plinth to make the building weather tight. The landscaping is now well underway. There’s still work to do at the back of the house but a small retaining wall has been built and the ground level has been raised to bring it in line with the bottom of the doorways. This will ensure the building is compliant with Lifetime Homes’ requirements and provide easy access for people with limited mobility.
The landscaping and paving at the front of the house are almost complete. Turf has been laid at the side of the house, enclosed by a box hedge with a louvered timber fence supplied by Grange Fencing., Even now, we can see the benefits of using Marshall’s specialist permeable Priora paving which has been laid by landscape gardener, Chris Ashw
The garage has been finished with a Silvelox up and over door, which provides a perfect match for Sunfold’s contemporary style entrance door to the house. This garage door also boasts a patented trackless opening system that allows the door to be opened horizontally or vertically for both car and pedestrian access.
Clover Kitchens used the very latest 3D video design software to create a beautiful contemporary style kitchen. The base units are in a sleek high white gloss and were installed in just one day. There is an island area in the middle of the room which will provide a great working space, with views out of Sunfold’s triangular feature window at one end of the kitchen, as well as out onto the patio area through the folding sliding doors. The next step will be to fit the worktops and install the Neff appliances which is planned in the next month.
Urban Dimensions are fixing ceramic tiles supplied by CTD Tiles and so far, the kitchen and upstairs’ family bathroom have all been tiled. We’ve opted for traditional rustic grey tiles in the main traffic areas, with large and small contemporary grey tiles for the main bathroom.
Next month the staircase and Sunfold internal doors and skirtings will be installed and the remaining work to the kitchen and bathrooms completed. The house will then be a blank canvas ready for Dwell’s interior designers to furnish.
